Town of Kahoku is located to the north from Ishinomaki. The majority of the town is in the northeast of Miyagi Prefecture. The total area is　125.1 square kilometers rich in unspoiled nature.

　Mount Joubou is located in the center of the town and from the top of the mountain, you can see all the mountains in Oku-Matushima and Ohu. If you look down From the summit, you can see River Kitakami and vast green rice fields where famous rice Sasanishiki and Hitomebore are produced.

　Nagazuru is facing the Pacific Ocean. When summer comes，it is very popular for its clear water and white sand. They have the 'Big Ban' as the center for exchanging cultures，sports，and academic areas and the 'Media Ship' as the center of exchanging information in the areas of 'Humans，commodities and communications '. Through these centers，people of Kahoku are striving toward bringing new energy to their place to fit the 21st century .There is also a plan to open a station between Sanriku Kawanokami Interchange and the road to　Oppagawa River Front Park named ' Family Land' in the Futago District.
